Target Audience

Young adults and people with young children are the target audience for the trailer, this is because they have a disposable income to be able to purchase the film or view it in a cinema. Young adults will also have time to view it in the evening as they have a large amount of free time, this is a good viewing time for thrillers as the time of day can affect the intensity of suspense created in the film.

Housewives may be interested in the film as they spend a lot of time with their children, meaning that the topic of the film will perhaps create the viewing satisfaction of personal identity as they could have been unable to find a child at some time. White British people will be targeted as they can identify with the protagonist more, being of the same race.

Those of all levels of education will be targeted as people who are less educated can enjoy the thriller aspects, whereas more educated people may be more able to enjoy the crime/mystery aspects of the text.

Those who are protective over their children will be targeted and will be more effected by the film as it works on a protective parent’s greatest fear, losing a child. They may watch this while someone else is looking after their child or they are out of the room due to the age rating, this will increase their paranoia and will create empathy with the protagonist. These people tend to use the news for information so using news extracts will create emotions of anxiety and fear.
